Four times a year, in January, March, July, and September, a small group of International students gather around my seminar table to learn and practice the conventions of academic English. For twelve (or six) weeks they engage in advanced English language training prior to beginning university study abroad. They learn the structure of English--what it is, how it is put together, and how it works. Most importantly, they learn the how to effectively express their ideas in oral and written English.

Students in the English for Academic Purposes (EAP) seminar participate in an intensive program that strengthens and enriches the following core academic areas:
1. Reading and vocabulary development
2. Pronunciation comprehensibility
3. English grammar and structure
4. Composition and rhetoric
5. Research, presentation and debate
6. Autonomous learning

For many students, an important reason for studying at Bridge Seminars is affordability. We offer EAP seminars that meet international standards of excellence for a fraction of what you would pay in Canada, the United States, Australia, or the United Kingdom. In these times of strained family budgets, studying academic English with us is an attractive option.

A second reason to choose Bridge Seminars is our faculty. Our director, Professor I.G. MacDonald, received his Bachelor of Arts degree in from Queen's University in Canada in 1997, his Master of Arts degree in 1999,and passed the comprehensive examination for his PhD in 2003. From 2005 to 2015 he was Professor of Composition and Rhetoric in the Graduate School of English Education and the Graduate School of TESOL at Dankook University in Korea.

Last, and certainly not least, our facilities are second-to-none. In addition to our air-conditioned seminar room, we feature a comprehensive academic resource library, high-speed wireless internet access, individual study carrels, and modern multi-media suite for lectures and presentations.
