I agree with AngeT. As a fourth-generation Singaporean now doing my degree in the United States, I can confidently tell you that the Singaporeans who are studying or are on student exchange in the United States are capable of speaking perfect English. Americans, on the other hand, seem to be only capable of understanding English spoken with an American accent or words used in the American context. What good does the "native speaker" label give you if you can't understand other "native speakers" like those from the U.K. or Ireland?

I'm not sure if Mr. Dao Jones is lying through his teeth about this love story. Don't make up stories about relationships with Singaporean girls just because Singapore seems exotic.
