Discover Vietnam
By:Vanessa Ann Lea

If you're thinking of visiting an Asian destination that will ignite your passion for the exotic and the unfamiliar, then you might want to start looking towards Vietnam. Vietnam is a great place to visit, especially if you're thinking of backpacking. Since there are a lot of tourists who have suddenly developed an interest in travelling this country, you can join backpacking groups to explore the different must see places that Vietnam has to offer. Here are just some of the destinations that you shouldn't leave out when planning your itinerary.

Halong Bay - considered as one of the most popular attractions in Vietnam, make sure that you visit Halong Bay to experience cruising on a junk. Be ready to explore the beautiful sights and limestone formations as you go on a steady cruise. Be adventurous and don't forget to sample the local delicacies for a taste of real Vietnamese cuisine.

Hanoi- if you're looking for a city that has all the touristy attractions that you wouldn't want to miss, then you should head out to Hanoi for a day trip. When in Hanoi, don't forget to visit the war museum for a glimpse of the pain and suffering that Vietnam has gone through the past decades. You can also check out the preserved body of the great Ho Chi Minh if you don't mind stepping into the world of the macabre for a while.

Ho Chi Minh City- lastly, don't forget to visit Ho Chi Minh City or Saigon to be reminded of the development that Vietnam has gone through after the war. Though you may still see traces of past wounds evident in some buildings and monuments, don't be afraid to be taken away by the charm that Vietnam is famously known for.
