Surf Resorts in Fiji
By:Kassandra Page

The reefs around the Fiji Islands combine with mid-Pacific swells to produce photo-worthy breaks year-round (see Resources). The waves are typically uncrowded, making them all the more attractive to avid surfers. One caveat to the abundant surf is lack of accessibility--nearly all the breaks in the Fiji Islands are accessible only by boat. This adds a degree of complication to planning a Fijian surf trip. Resorts along Fiji's coral coast cater to surfers' needs.

Rendezvous Beach Resort
Rendezvous Beach Resort is owned by a surfer and operated with the surfer in mind. The resort is on the Fijian island of Viti Levu, about 40 minutes from Nadi International Airport. From the resort, some of the best surf breaks in Fiji are less than a 20-minute boat ride away. Surf boats leave from the hotel each morning and last two to five hours, depending on the endurance level of the participants. Accommodation choices include space to pitch a tent, dormitory, private Fijian bure huts and private air-conditioned rooms. Accommodation rates run from $15 to $80 daily, as of September 2010. Weekly and monthly rentals and meal plans are also available.

Rates are all-inclusive and run from $270 per person, per day, as of 2010.
