I agree with Jody. HCMC is the most putrid, overcrowded dump I've ever taught in, and that includes 2 years in China. Viets are driven by family and MONEY and don't ever forget that here. Watching them drive their scooters in HCMC is an insight into how little they care about others. You are worth CONSIDERABLY less to them. YOU, as a FOREIGNER, are only an opportunity for Viets to get as much coin as possible. That includes employers, schools, landlords, SHOP OWNERS AND STREET VENDORS, etc.

Come for a visit by all means, but get out of HCMC QUICK!
