A friend of mine (foreigner) just had a baby in a small town in China. And yes, all of the above is true, that is what she was told. She was also told no men in the house for one month.

Just to let all teachers out there know, if you are considering having a baby in China, there are some difficulties. You must have someone to stay in the hospital with you, the nurses do not help with your baby. They will keep you and baby seriously hot.

And of course, do expect to pay foreigner hospital bills.

My friend and her baby are doing great now, comfy at home. But her time in the hospital was difficult and frustrating at the least.
