Thanks. That is essentially how I started, but now I need to find ways to help her USE that vocabulary, and that is how I have come to the point of asking the question as I did. Right now, the Ship-or-Sheep minimal-pair list (http://www.shiporsheep.com/) is helping with pronunciation, somewhat. Of course, it is going to take some practise, on her part. Example: one sound that is giving her particular difficulty is the word "her." Interestingly enough, she has no difficulty with "girl," and when I coach her to say "her" with the same sound, she DOES say it correctly. Unfortunately, however, if she tries to repeat "her" several times, or tries to say it without seeing the word "girl" in front of her as a reminder, she slips back into her mispronunciation, which is "whore" - a word that I have explained to her means something quite different!
