ESL Teaching and Learning Tips
Three ideas I would use:
a.Gallery Walk - post pictures and realia from the 60's around the room and have the students tour the gallery - make some observations about the times. -use pictures from Woodstock, Vietnam, etc.
b.Wax Museum - have each student pick an important person from the 60's and do some research on him/her. Then they dress up as the character - strike a pose in front of the class and have a partner read their blurb about the beliefs/contributions of this individual to the times.
c.Watch the movie The Sixties with Julia Stiles. Prior to watching, assign each student one of the characters in the movie - a family of five - at five different places in the movie, stop the film and have your class write a response in the voice of their character - how would their character be feeling about the events?
