Teaching English
By:Bryan Thankappan <thankbryan@rediffmail.com>

Hi Karla,
I thought i must share my experience with you. I too teach English to company staff and individuals and have no professional training in teaching English.
What I do is make them read out aloud articles on English Speaking available from the net. These articles will give you tips and the students instructions on what they should do. Reading is like talking except that there is no one to reply, which is all right as they need to overcome the 'fear' rather than the lack on English. next recommend that they 'listen' to the TV, English news BBC or CNN. Listening is very important since they need to hear, understand and then worry about making replies. Start with this. Also make them read a lot of self motivational articles to boost their morale. it helps. let me know if you need any more tips. I do this and it works.
