Famous for its energetic lifestyle, various churches and plenty of happy people, Riga is without a doubt one of the main attractions in the Baltic Sea. Positioned on the Daugava River, the metropolis is the home for over 734,000 inhabitants. The city presents quite a few national and historical points of interest, along with an array of pubs, cafes and restaurants. And what's even better about Riga is that many of its attractions are free of charge. Hence, come to the city and see more throughout the route of your own trip.

• The Freedom Monument
In the hearts of every Latvian, The Freedom Monument is a sacred place of worship. The idea of the attraction was to promote the survival of the people who managed to endure for such a long period of time the Soviet domination. What's really appealing about the location is the changing of the guards, an engaging spectacle and quite a delight for visitors happening everyday between 9am and 6pm. Stretched up for 42m the message on the monument " For the Fatherland and Freedom" is a valued logo among the people of the city.

• The Latvian War Museum
Recognized not just for the most interesting, but also for the most controversial museums in Riga, The War Museum dignifies great art work and displays with numerous event that used to ravage the entire country in the past. Various sections like the War of Liberation (1918-1920), where the Latvians fought for their lives with the Soviets are highly appreciated by the cultural traveler who is interested in the tumultuous history of Riga, as well as the entire country of Latvia.

• St. Jacob’s Church
Although it's not overly decorated, St. Jacob's Church is a pleasant place of worship where every sightseer is free to explore and analyze. Within the chapel there are some exquisite designs details like the tower spire, an element of architecture and tradition in Riga. Furthermore, St. Jacobs has also another element of uniqueness that amazes travelers: the bells of the sacred place, positioned on the exterior side are also quite amazing to have a look at and appreciate.

• The Esplanāde
Filled with benches, vivacious people and attractive architectural details, the Esplanade is more suitable for the romantic tourist. Along the alley you'll see the stunning Russian Orthodox Church, as well as the National Art Museum, two of Riga's most visited attractions. The Esplanade is great for some relaxation after a tiring day, especially because it's packed with vegetation, beautiful flowers and soothing ambiance.

• The Central Market
The Central Market is more of a traditional spot in Riga. Leaving big malls and expensive purchases aside, this location in particular is cheerful and lively, full of vendors that still sell cheap groceries and souvenirs for foreigners. Around the place prices are for every budget and to enter the market won’t cost you a thing. Admire the customary trade of the city all over the marketplace, take beautiful photos and enjoy this simple but enthralling part of Riga.
