English schools in Europe

United Kingdom - Weymouth
School:Weymouth English Centre <chris@weymouthenglishcentre.com>

Weymouth English Centre is a small, family-run school which specialises in summer courses for teenagers aged 13 to 17 from all over the world. It is accredited by the British Council and is a member of English UK.

Weymouth is a popular seaside resort in Dorset, on the south-west coast. On the Jurassic Coast, a World Heritage Site, it is in an area of outstanding beauty. Weymouth itself has a long, sandy beach and plenty of things to do and see.

Accommodation is with carefully selected, welcoming host families in the area.

We meet students when they arrive at the airport and we accompany them to and from Weymouth.

The school offers a full programme of activities and excursions, with activities each weekday afternoon, four weekday evenings and a full day trip each Saturday. With our unique programme planning system, students can choose their activities online before they even come to England.

We also offer special optional courses including English and Sailing, which has sailing lessons on four afternoons each week and leads to a certificate from the Royal Yachting Association.
Students on our English and Windsurfing course also receive a certificate from the Royal Yachting Association.

English and Outdoor Adventure includes rock-climbing, mountain-biking, kayaking and windsurfing.

Our courses are specially designed for teenagers aged between 13 and 17. We aim to improve each student's spoken and written English, to expand their vocabulary and their general understanding of the language. This should be reflected in better marks at school when they return home.

Our teachers are all qualified to teach English as a foreign language. They use a variety of methods and resources to achieve engaging and fun lessons, including games, role plays, videos, music, interactive whiteboards and project work.

There is a short written and spoken test on the first day, after which students are placed into a class of the right level.

At the end of each course students receive a certificate and a full progress report.
