I'm brand-new to this board, and I found it hard to search the archives, so forgive me if this question ahs been asked and answered before:

I'm interested in teaching ESL abroad, but I'm very confused about all the different certification programs. I ahve a master's degree in Journalism, and I'm not up for another huge investment of time and money getting another advanced degree. But I'm also a bit wary of all the seemingly cheap and easy online TESL certs I see advertised. My local university (Duke) offeres a cert program, but it's a little pricey and I'd love to know if it's worth the extra money to have the Duke name on my cert or if anyone really cares.

I would appreciate any advice.
