Hence, don't blame the individual FAO, he/she may not be the right kind of person for this job - blame the system that appointed such a person instead!

It's oftentimes very difficult and boring to solve problems thrust upon you by a douche bag of a person if you're unfortunate enough to be the victim of him/her, of course a person who has been given the job of being your FAO by your prospecgtive employer without any consultation with you beforehand.
That said, it makes good sense to enquire well in advance if he/she has ever studied abroad. If the reply is in the affirmative, it's likely you won't encounter trouble. However, if the answer is no, who knows what kind of person might have been entrusted with looking after you? Then you'll have to rely on your instincts re what he/she says when you skype him/her or the tone of the writing in his/her correspondence before making a decision to teach there or not. If you have cause for even the slightest doubt on either or both counts mentioned above, I suggest you give that school a miss!
