What to See When in India
By:Jackie Reyno

India is a mysterious land with a rich and vibrant history. Because of its abundance of natural resources and fertile soil, it is perfect for human habitation. It's been the site of some of the earliest civilizations in the world. In fact, its culture goes back more than 3000 years. Visitors to India can expect to be transported back to a magical time that is vastly different from their regular life.

If you took a trip to India and spent years exploring, you still wouldn't see all of the amazing sights and places in this land. Still, there are a few locations that just can't be missed when you take your trip. Be sure to see:

The Kashmir Valley is a must-see. This part of India is so lovely that Mughal emperors would come here in the final days before their deaths. It has been described as "heaven on earth."

Nothing in the world can surpass the magnificence of the Himalayan Mountains in terms of beauty. There are thick forests that cover the land, and down in the valley there are hundreds of lovely serene lakes.

There has been some violence and terrorist activity happening in the past 2 decades, but this has been greatly reduced in recent years. It is once again safe for tourists to visit this area.

In the southernmost part of India the state of Kerala is known as "God's own country." It is an area of great natural beauty.

For people who love nature, and beautiful unspoiled vistas, Kerala will be heaven itself. The famous backwaters of this area can even be explored aboard a luxury houseboat - this is a lovely and serene way to see the area.

The desert state of Rajasthan is also spectacular. This is the site where hundreds of royal kingdoms flourished years ago. It is known as the state of royalty. A tourist to the area can visit any number of glorious palaces, and can enjoy the sense of privilege from days gone by. Make sure also to see the nearby areas of Jodhpur and Jaipur.

Madhya Pradesh is a definite must-see for students of history or Buddhism. It is the birthplace of Buddhism, and also the location where the oldest of India's kingdoms flourished. It is located in the heart of India, and features some of its oldest cultural artifacts.
