Traveling to New_York - Some Info and Things to See
By:Robb Stark

New York - The Big Apple - has for the last few years seen a surge in visitors traveling there to enjoy themselves. A lot has, of course to do with the financial situation over the world and the dollar rate being low compared o most other currencies. This has made eating out in restaurants, shopping for clothes and other things as well as entertainment a rather cheap experience for tourists. Prices for accommodation in hotels are still rather expensive however; this is always the negative side with traveling to New York when it comes to the financial side of things. You will have to be ready to spend at least one hundred dollars for a double room in a standard hotel, but more often the rates are even higher.

New York is the Unites States largest city population wise, now quickly pushing close to nine million inhabitants. New York City is a very multi cultural place - almost all ethnic groups from all over the world are represented here in the city.

Just like the saying the city that never sleeps suggests, New York City is a very active place. A big reason for this is because you are able to do or get anything you could possibly want at any time of the day. Be it food, shopping, entertainment or transportation. The business climate is very intense as well; everyone is always on the move to somewhere to get something done.

New York, being the massive city that it is, has tons of things to offer the visitor. Do not expect to experience even a fraction of everything that is to be had here. The best way to go about experiencing the place is to take it easy and plan to return many times to cover different parts. Below I will briefly go through some of my favorite attractions.

The Museum of Modern Art

The MoMA is located at Eleventh Avenue and Fifty Third Street and is according to many the most influential museum of modern art in the world. The architecture is wonderful and some of the artists represented here are Andy Warhol, Salvador Dali, Pablo Picasso, Claude Monet and Vincent van Gogh. If you are into art, prepare to spend a whole day here.

Empire State Building

This massive sky scraper, with its one hundred and two stories and three hundred and eighty one meters in height, is located on Fifth Avenue and Thirty Fourth Street on Manhattan. From its completion in nineteen hundred and thirty one and forty one years on, this was the tallest building in the world until the World Trade Center took over the crown. Much of Empire State Buildings fame comes from Hollywood, in particular the movies about King Kong.

Shopping on Fifth Avenue

Fifth Avenue on Manhattan is one of many famous Avenues in New York City. Many business chains have their flag ship stores here like Saks, Bloomingdales, Macys, Victorias Secret and Apple Store. This place is heaven for the shopping savvy visitor with everything from Abercombie and Fitch to Gucci and Prada.
