Fancy A Slice Of The Big Apple
By:HILDEGARD SULLIVANT

New_York, New York: so good they named it twice. It''s a clich? but a valid one: the city''s incredible architecture, vibrant atmosphere and numerous other attractions help it earn its status as one of the world''s most (justly) popular holiday destinations. The only way to truly do the city justice is to experience it yourself; however here is a quick guide to a few of its delights.

The first concern people have when booking a holiday destination is travel. New York presents no problems on that front. Once you''re in the city the famous and efficient subway system, or one of the numerous yellow taxis, are two effective and relatively cheap ways to travel around the city. Getting to New York itself isn''t a problem either: the city''s three major airports are John F. Kennedy, Newark International and La Guardian (though this is often used for internal flights).

If you''re looking to splash some cash in order to ensure you have a truly luxurious holiday then New York provides ample opportunities to do so when it comes to accommodation. The world-famous Four Seasons is probably one of the most obvious options; places like the Mandarin Oriental Hotel are also worth checking out.

As you''d expect for such a busy and international city New York''s cuisine is excellent. The city''s Italian heritage means that most of these restaurants provide delicious and authentic Italian dishes; for the more unusual diner somewhere like the Russian Tearoom might be worth looking at.

When it comes to a night out you can be sure that New York will have something for you. The city''s nightclubs are numerous and varied, though you are advised to research your venue beforehand. There''s nothing worse than getting to the door of a club and discovering there''s a strict dress code you don''t fit. If you''d prefer a slightly less energetic evening New York is also full of Jazz and Comedy clubs.

For those who are looking for a bit of a break from the urban life New York has several beautiful green spaces. Central Park is the most famous; it looks particularly beautiful in autumn (or ''Fall'') when the leaves are turning. If you''re looking for a slightly less touristy destination somewhere like Brooklyn''s Prospect Park might be a better option.

Whichever cultural attraction is your favourite, New York will have something. Museums like the Metropolitan Museum of Art are a must-see for art lovers; it often has unique exhibits as well as work by famous artists like Van Gogh. Of course, no visit to New York would be complete without taking in a Broadway show as well ? if musicals aren''t your thing there are often more avant-garde productions.

If you''re looking for an easy trip which will guarantee you pack as much in as possible a tailor-made package may be the option for you. These include flights, hotel and some attractions, numerous variations can be found so you''ll be sure to find something to suit your taste and budget.
