The Best Time to Visit Disney World in Orlando
By:Kenneth Black

The best time of the year to visit Disney World in Orlando is largely dependent on what type experience you wish to have. Some features, such as the Princess and Pirates Party, are only available during certain times of the year. Holiday specials are also very popular. Determining when to go may be determined in some instances on crowd avoidance and vacation schedules.

The Weather
By far, the most comfortable time to visit Walt Disney World in Orlando is during the early spring or late fall. Though temperatures can vary widely as these times of the year, you are more likely to find comfortable weather than not. In addition, these times not only avoid hurricane season but also the afternoon thunderstorms, which can be almost a daily event in Florida in the summer.

The Summer
In some ways, the best time to visit Walt Disney World in Orlando is determined by when the kids are out of school or when adults can get time off from their jobs. If the summer is the only option, there is no need to fear. It is the most-visited time of the year for a reason. The parks are open later and water features allow guests a chance to cool down. The resort pools are also a nice treat when the mercury soars above 90 degrees.

The Holidays
Many who have visited Disney World dream of coming around the holiday times. Each park has something special to offer, but three events are especially well known. The Magic Kingdom has the world-famous Very Merry Christmas Parade. Disney Hollywood Studios has the Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing lights, a bright and colorful display set to music. Epcot has the Candlelight Processional which is, by far, the most highly rated event in all the parks during the holidays. Temperatures during the holidays are usually very comfortable, but a light jacket, sweatshirt or sweater should be packed just in case.

The Crowds
No matter when the best time to visit Disney World in Orlando is for you personally, the fact is there are always going to be crowds, especially for the rides and shows. Outside of the summer, holidays and spring break, Disney cuts hours back at the parks and may not have as many ride vehicles going. This allows them to cut staff, but makes the wait times nearly as long as they may be during the summer. Therefore, coming up with an effective crowd-control strategy is important. See Resources for a link to help you establish a good plan.
