Many associate a Disney World vacation with at least a week's worth of activities and they'd be right. However, if you only have one weekend to spend in Disney, you can pick one of the 4 major parks (Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Epcot or Disney's Hollywood Studios) and make the most out of a weekend at just one of these locations. Disney's Hollywood Studios is a great one to choose, as it offers a variety of shows and attractions that allow you to step right into the middle of the action of a variety of your favorite movies.

Do your research before you leave. Check out the Disney's Hollywood Studios section of the Walt Disney World website and see what rides, attractions and dining options are available to you (see Resources). Guide books in your local bookstore or library travel section are another great way to check out all Hollywood Studios has to offer.

Make dining reservations in advance if you plan on eating at one of the main sit-down eateries within the Studios. The Brown Derby, Hollywood & Vine, and Mama Melrose's Ristorante Italiano are the major sit-down restaurants, but often fill up very fast around peak lunch and dinner times, so it's best to have reservations set up ahead of time. For fast food in a themed setting, consider the making reservations at the 50's Prime Time Cafe or Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater. Or just stop at one of the many counter service locations such as Toy Story Pizza Planet or the Backlot Express.

Make lists (either on paper or in your head) of which rides are must-sees vs maybes and which are not appealing to you at all. This way, you can figure out how many things you definitely need to make time for and not waste any time checking out anything that doesn't appeal to you.

Obtain a map with show schedule when you arrive and check out the varying show times for popular shows, such as the "Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular" and the "Beauty and the Beast Stage Show." Working around the show times will help you better map out your day so you can be sure to get great seats to enjoy these presentations. Shows such as "Voyage of the Little Mermaid" or "Sounds Dangerous" don't have specific show times, as they run back-to-back continuously all day and can be seen whenever you like (often with minimal wait times if timed correctly).

Head straight to major headliner attractions such as Tower of Terror, Rock 'n Roller Coaster and Toy Story Mi-Way Mania if any of those are on your must-see list. Fast Passes for such attractions can run out early in the day, so it's best to get one as early in the day as you can. You can even consider getting a Fast Pass for later in the day, then riding on the stand-by line while the line is somewhat shorter, as this will allow you to do big name attractions twice.
