Toronto's Koreatowns - Experience Korea on the Other Side of the World
By:Simon Stawski

Are you interested in Korea? If you happen to live in the Greater Toronto Area, you're in luck. Head over to one of Toronto's two Koreatowns at either Yonge and Finch or Bloor and Christie and you'll get to experience plenty of things Korean.

1. Korean food is absolutely delicious, but not nearly as popular as other Asian cuisine, and that's a bit unfortunate. If you'd like to give Korean food a try, head over to the Oh Geul Boh Geul in the North York area. There you'll be given more free side dishes than you can possibly eat, and you'll be treated to some really delicious unique food. My favorite is the Mul Neng Myeon, which is a cold buckwheat noodle in delicious broth. It's too difficult to explain, because there aren't many foods you can compare it to. Just give it a shot and you'll see: you'll be coming back there all the time.

2. Are you interested in Karaoke, but too shy to sing in front of strangers? Try a No Rae Bang, which is a private singing room, where you and your friends reserve a room and sing your guts out. No shame, no embarrassment. Have a good time with your friends and sing your favorite songs in Korean or English. Head over to the XO at Bloor and Christie and get a room right away!

3. Korean supermarkets offer a wide variety of produce and ingredients that can add a new twist to your regular meals. Add some kimchi as a side dish for dinner. Throw in some rice cakes in your stews. For a snack have a choco pie. You won't regret it! Check out the supermarket at Bloor and Christie and feel free to experiment!

Altogether, Toronto's Koreatowns have many more things to offer, so whether you're a home sick Korean or an inquisitive non-Korean, you can find all you'll need right in your own city.
