Fair enough teaching hours are not shorter. What I meant was that classes are usually an hour or less.

A good teacher can effectively teach and manage a class of up to 60 or 70 students.

True, a good teacher can, but how useful is it for students in a class that size? Ans: it's useless. The students sit there enthralled or bored stiff, soaking up what the teacher says but either way they hardly get to practice at actually speaking the language. It's not communicative and the reason there are classes of that size is because Chinese universities simply do not have the resources to institute small classes. Basically, in large classes it's all teacher centred, the students don't get enough attention from the teacher and basically it's a waste of time. Ask any Chinese student what they would like more of and they will all tell you - it's more face to face time with a foreign teacher.

So I get pissed off when I hear people praising training centres. They are like cancer, and should be eradicated.

Haha, laughable.
