Dear Turnoi:

I read your posts about Nanchang University. I have considered teaching at the university, but after reading your posts, I am reluctant to proceed with my plans.

First, I am concerned about the university's apparent failure to comply with the terms of the contract. I do not yet have a contract, as I am informed that it will be produced and "signed" upon my arrival in China. At this time, I only have general representations from my agent as to salary, housing, etc. However, after reading the posts about the university, I am worried that the "terms" will be changed when I arrive in China. Do you have any advice for me as to how I may firm up the contract before leaving for China?

Second, are you firmly against teaching at the university or are there any circumstances that would cause you to consider teaching at the university?

Third, I am Catholic, and it is my intention to attend Mass on my free-time, as it is my understanding that there is a church in the city. I have no interest in "converting" the people, and I am only interested is demonstrating my faith by living an honest and decent life. What issues will I face if I proceed in this manner?

Your help is appreciated.

Any other comments are also welcome.
