In response to Re: Meten English, Shenzhen, T & Z (Rebecca)

You are all correct, my grammar isn't perfect in my last posting. I guess that's because I mistakenly thought that the content was the most important thing, but clearly it's my use of punctuation that is key. Why talk about the need to use these forums for constructive discussion, when we could talk about commas. Yes you have me there, I don't give a crap about my grammar on an informal blog post- guilty as charged. I care about things like not posting lies about teachers- how do you know what kind of visa I have? I care about trying to improve thing by giving useful information, not making blanket accusations about an entire company. Clearly I must be unintelligent if I like my job, clearly I must be unprofessional if I work here, clearly if my views on my experience in China are not negative then I must be lying? If you can say you hate Meten, why can’t I say I don’t? In fact in my last post I don’t even defend Meten that much, I simply say that when there are problems at work you can either sulk in them, or you can try to improve your own situation.

Perhaps the grammar in my last post made my whole meaning indiscernible, so let me try to clarify. 1) Attacking people by lying about them and about who you are is unprofessional. 2) I agree that everyone has the right to express their experiences, but using these forums as a gripefest instead of trying to move the conversation toward a more productive outcome is pointless. 3) I think we should use this space to help each other. Why can’t we discuss teaching methods for classes of mixed ages or ways that we have successfully dealt with common problems associated with working in China instead of nit-picking the grammar of a blog post?

But I’m sure there is also something wrong with my grammar in this post as well (guess what I’m not even going to spell check it…oh the semantic humanity!). I’m sure my opinion offends someone who knows more about performing my job than I do. But I think I can still safely make the same prediction now as I did in my last post. I am willing to bet that the responses from a certain select few on this site will have nothing to do with the content of my post or on ways we can help improve our situations through meaningful discussion, but rather they will attack me. So you decide what will come next: evocative discussions about teaching or more reasons why I’m an idiot (and I bet I already know the idiotic answer).
