I arrived in China four years ago, a very optimistic and enthusiastic teacher.

Luckily, I was blessed with (mostly) excellent students, age 17-55; but I had one horrendous, inept, and greedy boss after another. I've lost faith in teaching in China, because the whole ESL industry is so riddled with corruption and almost complete lack of professional or educational ethics or integrity.

People considering coming to China for teaching should think very carefully, because (based on my years of experience) the likelihood of being deceived, threatened, controlled, ripped-off, etc., is quite, quite high (and growing higher every day).

Your testimony is valuable and helps other possibly avoid a similar experience to yours (and mine) -- and so many other FTs.
