Re: Meten English, Shenzhen, T & Z

You are all correct, my grammar isn't perfect in my last posting. I guess that's because I mistakenly thought that the content was the most important thing, but clearly it's my use of punctuation that is key. Why talk about the need to use these forums for constructive discussion, when we could talk about commas. Yes you have me there, I don't give a crap about my grammar on an informal blog post- guilty as charged. I care about things like not posting lies about teachers- how do you know what kind of visa I have? I care about trying to improve thing by giving useful information, not making blanket accusations about an entire company. Clearly I must be unintelligent if I like my job, clearly I must be unprofessional if I work here, clearly if my views on my experience in China are not negative then I must be lying? If you can say you hate Meten, why can’t I say I don’t? In fact in my last post I don’t even defend Meten that much, I simply say that when there are problems at work you can either sulk in them, or you can try to improve your own situation.

It was the other poster who criticised your, grammar/spelling/punctuation. But as you have brought it up; spelling, is not so important; if we make a mistake, using then, instead of than, that does not really matter, because, unless we are not native speakers, the meaning is still clear; whereas, punctuation and meaning are both inextricably involved.

I don't know your Meten school, and it could very well be an evil place for all I know. What I do know, is that, you should be allowed the right to defend the place without being shouted down. Are you saying that Meten used to be evil but no longer is? Well, all things can change. What has changed about Meten?

"Meaningful Discussions" are held with reasonable people who are willing to compromise. Nobody should compromise their principles with folks who don't have any. People who work at places like Meten and try to promote good things about the place should only be marginalized and ridiculed.

There will be no compromise.

Perhaps the grammar in my last post made my whole meaning indiscernible, so let me try to clarify. 1) Attacking people by lying about them and about who you are is unprofessional. 2) I agree that everyone has the right to express their experiences, but using these forums as a gripefest instead of trying to move the conversation toward a more productive outcome is pointless. 3) I think we should use this space to help each other. Why can’t we discuss teaching methods for classes of mixed ages or ways that we have successfully dealt with common problems associated with working in China instead of nit-picking the grammar of a blog post?

But I’m sure there is also something wrong with my grammar in this post as well (guess what I’m not even going to spell check it…oh the semantic humanity!). I’m sure my opinion offends someone who knows more about performing my job than I do. But I think I can still safely make the same prediction now as I did in my last post. I am willing to bet that the responses from a certain select few on this site will have nothing to do with the content of my post or on ways we can help improve our situations through meaningful discussion, but rather they will attack me. So you decide what will come next: evocative discussions about teaching or more reasons why I’m an idiot (and I bet I already know the idiotic answer).

The whole point is to drive away the liars, cheaters, criminals, and psychopaths from posting on this site and misleading others. Bullying is not something survivors do, merely inform forcefully.

Before you criticize others, you should work on how to use your semicolons and what must follow one, and pay a lot of attention to your commas, and lack of them.

Ah, the last refuge of the GW defending that which can not be defended, the grammar nazi. How qualified are you to point out this btw?

Re: Meten English, Shenzhen, T & Z

I am one of the "unprofessionals" posting in this thread, and you seem to think you are the only professional posting in this thread. In case of the latter, I think you are very wrong for at least the following 2 reasons:

1. Your written English in the post you have made contains several mistakes that you should not make if you were a professional teacher! I doubt you are, and therefore I say you are absolutely the wrong person in that job you are doing at present. The fact that METEN employs people like you attests to their unprofessionalism and to the fact that they are nothing else than pretend "school" of clowns and a language mill and crappy training centre in reality.

2. To work on an F visa is highly illegal, and especially the alien police in Shenzhen will not tolerate if if they find out about it; I have talked to their boss a couple of months ago when I returned from Hongkong and passed Shenzhen.

Why don't you go home and educate yourself a bit better before lecturing others posting here in this thread?

Ah yes, and before I forget it - METEN is an evil organisation, and foreign teachers should NOT work for this pretend "school" and language mill!!!!

I have looked at both your posts and his is clearly written better than yours. Before you criticize others, you should work on how to use your semicolons and what must follow one, and pay a lot of attention to your commas, and lack of them.

Enough of that- why don't you allow him his say? That way he won't take you for a fool and not return to this site. I don't know if you are right or wrong about Meten, but there seems to be bullying going on here and little free discussion.
