Shanghai is actually a great place to live and work, but you had better get a real job in a real industry to make it worthwhile. This is not a money thing, but a self respect thing.

I’m not just talking about being some kind of high earning finance guy in Pudong, even a marketing job would be far more respectable.

Also, don’t go there for a ‘China’ experience. Because Shanghai is quite a mental crazy place in its own right.
