I will also add that you should remember that Chinese children are brainwashed and indoctrinated from a very early age to be racist toward foreigners, especially those of colour, especially those of Asian decent, and toward anyone who does not fit the "blue-eyed, blonde hair" stereotype. It is common for children at TC's to says "that foreigner teacher is ugly". The school will then try to find a reason to fire the teacher. This behaviour is often encouraged by the TA's. Also, if female Chinese teachers think a foreign teacher is ugly they will often try to gang up on him/her, especially if it is a male is his late 20's, early 30's. This can happen at a middle school, high school, or a university.

This view of Chinese teachers ganging up on ugly foreigner is imaginary. They may well gang-up if you say obnoxious things and do not respect them for the qualified teachers they are. Don't forget please that most of us FT's are not qualified teachers. You yourself were an ex-navvy and fashion model...I don't know maybe you put a few spare tyres on and were no longer wanted in those two callings so you thought I'll try my hand (or any other appendage about your person) at teaching. The last thing these schools want to do is fire the teacher. However if your students point out you have been seen sniffing around ladies of the night, or whining about the prospect of doing an English corner, what can you expect!!? Standards dear boy, standards!
