Re: NANNING EXPERIMENTAL SCHOOL - ESL school review

hello all, me and another American were hired in 2002 to help open this bilingual school in Nanning. at that stage the school was just being contructed. We did lots of English corners around the area and interviewed students for the opening in 2003. I went back 2 years later and the campus was almost complete. at that time it was a little far from the city. but sure all has changed. love nanning and the area

Re: NANNING EXPERIMENTAL SCHOOL - ESL school review

I taught at that school for a year when it opened in 2003. The school was great, had a great year. No western toilet, welcome to Asia! Everything was great for the most part. A few small things etc. that i would expect anywhere in China. In my opinion Beida was the best esl job in town.

NANNING EXPERIMENTAL SCHOOL

Just a word of warning about the above named school in Nanning,Guangxi Province,China.
I with my Chinese partner went to the school in response to a Ms Molly Huangge to teach there. We were told the appartment was 1st class with all facilities provided. On going into the appartment we found there was no Western style toilet, which is a requirement under Chinese law for Western teachers. There was no air-conditioning or fan even though the temperture was 30 degrees.Ms Molly said OH it will be winter soon you don't need air-con.Both of us and my Chinese partner's sister were sitting there in the appartment sweating like pigs. There was no hot water. There was no cooking facilities although you could eat the chinese food for free at the school canteen, which was literally soaked with oils and fats. The was a no mattress on the bed. There was no hot water. The list goes on.I really don't understand why the Chinese employers treat highly qualified Western teachers in that manner other than they being ignorant of our basic needs and wants.I can understand why there were no other native speakers at that school.Needless to say we packed our bags and walked
