Re British School of Nardo, Italy

This is a terrible school which is run by a rude and unprofessional man. The British School of Nardo does not represent the standards and quality of the British Schools of Italy. This is because the Director is a disgusting man who abuses staff and treats them in such an awful manner. He appears to be nice in Skype interviews but then he exploits teaching staff, becomes aggressive over very trivial matters and then he threatens to keep your wages and steal them. He is unfriendly and crude.

He promises accommodation in a shared flat, but you discover that this flat is in terrible condition, with bad electric wiring, very limited kitchen, no internet or adequate heating and infested with bugs in the bedrooms. He charges 200 Euros for this which he takes out of your wage, plus extra bills. He exploits teachers and threatens to steal wages, often tormenting staff in his office.

Luckily this school is managed by a UK agency who deal with problems and issues. They are called 'Barnbrook Sinclair' and they have to monitor the school because the director is mostly incompetent and difficult to deal with. He is actually a dictator, not a director. The best advice is to stay away from this school because it is a horrible environment to work.

Hi, read your article with great interest. Myself and my wife were the first teachers to work for him when it first opened in Nardo. I can see that things haven't changed one iota Inc the old flat. The owner is some character. He comes across like an angry little man intent on getting the last bit of blood from every teacher he uses and abuses. Loved the town pity about the school, director and the wee scrum who owns the flat who calls himself a bank offical. These 2 clowns would put some mafia to shame. They must think all English teachers are working for the VSO (Voluntary Service overseas).

Re British School of Nardo, Italy

British School of Nardo is just another example of a small and desperate school which is trying to exploit teachers from UK and discard them with no respect at all. The director, Mauro, is a most appalling and disgusting man who has threatened physical violence to some teachers in his office. His behavior is so disgusting that nobody will even work for him in his school office. So, he must use his own family to work in his school. He has an incompetent ageing wife and silly daughter who help him, as he can't get other people to work in his school. It is typical to find some schools in the south of Italy to be operated and managed in an unorthodox way, and often these schools can behave quite inappropriately with their own special set of rules. British School of Nardo is an extreme example of this, especially as the director is a cold mannered and deceiving person. In fact, the school even has a UK firm to manage the legal and accounting aspects. They are called Barnbrook Sinclair and they are actually the employer for the teachers. Contracts are managed by Barnbrook Sinclair and they are the employer who are responsible for the teachers well-being at the school. This system is in place because of the issues and problems that teachers can have when directors can be pathetic, mean and just horrible to work for. So the UK firm acts as an agency to support teachers and make sure they get paid. It is a real shame when a school has to be run by such cold mannered people. British School of Nardo does not represent what a normal working environment should be and an external firm has to step in and deal with unpaid wages and even compensation for the unprofessional behaviour of the director. It is a shame, but there are schools which exploit and abuse teachers.

Re: Re British School of Nardo, Italy

I can't believe you hire teachers without vetting them! You leave them in charge of a class of young learners without having checked their background? Anything you wrote about his "deficiencies" would have come out of conversations with his references, former employers and former colleagues. Where is your sense of responsibility to your students and their parents? You seem to hire anybody off the street. Shame on you!

This review, which has been posted on different sites (identical except for the name attached), was written by Bidhan - a pseudo teacher who in 2015 failed his trial period with us and was not given a contract on account of his glaring inability (as a teacher) and due to the multitude of complaints from the students he was (supposed to be) teaching.

Bidhan failed as an educator; he was unable to manage his lessons or his classes, he was unable to even engage the interest of his students and left them feeling so uninvolved that they were bored to distraction. He was also lexically and grammatically sub par for a teacher. But he wasn't bothered. After having been made aware of the problem, he was requested to make the substantial modifications to his educational method and way of working, but he showed scant interest in this. The sluggish indolence and his own limitations led to no modifications or improvement in the quality of his lessons, leading to his subsequent dismissal.

Mr. , despite his forty years, has displayed the maturity of a child; after having pursued a vendetta for over a year he has commented on various social media sites attempting to belittle and slander us, signing himself: Valentino Conti, Inglese 1, Justin, Paul Randal and others. This same approach has been adopted towards other linguistic organisations who have had the misfortune to have known him.

If only the fervent imagination displayed by Bidhan in his determination in bringing forward defamatory accusations could be used instead for the improvement of his own modest quality of teaching.
