You are talking absolute bollocks [edited][edited][edited][edited][edited].

I have met a few young teachers living in Shanghai and have heard the horror stories (A local friend's foreign friends). The place attracts everybody, sure the market is very competitive and standards are higher, but there's enough shitty training centres and shitty teachers to fill them. Apparently observing a shit teacher as part of your training at a TC can be quite amusing though... Would rather go to a Zoo and watch real ape monkeys shit in their hands and eat it though, than those potential paedo c**ts.

Getting a teaching job in Shanghai is not some kind of grand prize that only the best can get, lol. Unless you are talking about getting head-hunted to teach something other than English at Fudan or SH Jiaotong maybe. Even quite a few of the high paying international schools have received very bad feedback even.

Besides, as far as most of my friends in Shanghai are concerned, they pretty much point out that out only losers work in ESL for the long term there, there are far superior opportunities there for everybody in marketing, hospitality, engineering, logistics, you name it... Anybody with any amount of self-esteem who works in ESL in Shanghai; only does it for the first year to get their foot into China. Even then, intern-ships tend to be the preferred route for many.
