Is It True the Harder You Work - The Luckier You Get?
By:Phalbon Im

Maybe some people only work a few hours per day. Some people take it easy at work. Some people are lazy at work. Some of them work harder than the rest because they love their job or fulfill their duty at work. Some work smarter, not harder. In whatever case that maybe, the true part is that you and I have to work for a living. What does luck have to do with hard work?

In this world, in order to move up from an entry level position in any career, it takes hard work. Mostly, you have to earn it. Nothing will come to you easily and freely. The harder you work, the more experience you gain in what you are working on. You tend to find a new approach to handle the task quicker and faster. You are productive at work. You later gain recognition that leads to advanced promotion or pay raise. This is what luck here refers to. So it is true: the harder you work, the luckier you get.

However, it is not always true that the harder you work, the luckier you get. On a rare occasion, the hard work does not pay off. There is an external factor that plays a major role: you have no control on the situation. This happens when your company is acquired by a big company. Your hard work would not save you the job that you loved. The reason is the big company does not want to have an overlapped position. Besides, they have to be lean and mean to compete in the global market. You got laid off because of that acquisition.

Most of the time, the harder you work, the luckier you get, but you are not going to get luckier all the time. You cannot rely on just only a single source of income.

I hope you learned something useful about this quote and understand the true meaning behind it.
