How to Stop Criticising People
By:Nabihah Zaid

Ever wondered why our mouth just cannot help but talk? We love to talk so much that even when there is nothing to speak about, we just have to say something, hence, where we start looking for people's faults. Here, let's try and train ourselves not to criticize so much, otherwise, we might find ourselves being the most hated person in the world.

First thing: No one is perfect.

Let's remind ourselves that life is full of imperfections, including us humans. That is what makes life fun - imagine how boring life would be if everyone was perfect and everything goes as we plan, no challenges and no thrills, what's so good about that? It's not how perfect we are that counts, it's how we overlook the imperfections and be happy with the things we have that matters, regardless of how imperfect they are. Ignore people's 'flaws' and compliment them on their bright-side. Come on, everyone has their own bright-sides, we just choose to ignore it, that's why it's hard to find.

Criticize your own self.

Before you look at others' fault, look at your owns first. Who are you to tell people you're better than them, when technically, you are the same? You breathe the same air as they breathe, you need food and drink like they do. It may be that you're in a better social class than they are but the fact remains, when death comes knocking on your door, you will have to leave your worldly status behind - your wealth and your workers will not be able to help you when it comes to death. So why not while you're still breathing in this lovely world, make as many friends as possible, not by your money nor your name, but by who you are and by what a good friend you are to have around.

Correct people nicely.

Everyone needs someone to correct them sometime, and there's no harm in being the one corrected or the one correcting. It's just that when you're corrected, accept it with good grace. People will surely admire you for this, and if you are the one correcting,be sure you word your sentence nicely so that no hard feelings will be done. If you can't think of any ways to make your advise sound as nice as you'd like it, don't bother saying anything because if you did and it came out wrong, you'll just hurt the person's feelings and he/she will probably not care about what you think. Technically, making people hate you for the way you talk and not really helping them at all. Think twice before you talk because you never know how the other person will react.
