How to Evaluate a Movie for Your Child (student)
By:Alexandra Burlacu

Do you remember when movies "for adults" were those kisses? Films today are much harder to be monitored by parents, but these instructions may help.

Here's how:

1. Understand the movie rating system of today. Besides general audience film: only with the parents, under 12 years, under 15 years and under 18 years, many newspapers, magazines and Internet sites note the movies that contain violence speech, nakedness and mature themes.

2. Search about a particular movie that the kid wants to see it. Those movies that can be viewed only with the consent of the parents does not mean that you let your child to see it if you know more about the film.

3. Know your ethics and stick to them. If it is approved to live together without marriage, your child of 10 years should not see movies that contain such behavior and explain why children should not see that movie (even if "everybody goes to the movies").

4. Understand your child: could he have nightmares seeing a movie with violent scenes? It's more or less grown-up than others kids that have similar age?

5. Show your values clearly. Your kid must know your policy regarding movies - for instance, he should ask for permission before he looks at a movie that is not for viewers of all ages and be supposed to know what he will do if he is offered the opportunity of watching an inappropriate video.

6. If you are uncertain about a rigorous video, watch it together. Be ready to leave the cinema or to stop the video if you believe that the movie is not appropriate for your child.

Tips

* Propose other activities when you disapprove the request to see a movie that is not appropriate. Offer to go with your child and a friend to a pizza or to a show instead.
