Successful People Without College Degrees
By:Kum Martin

We all know and hear it often enough that a college degree is required if we want to become something in life. While this is a fact, there are some people who have managed to attain the zenith of success without the help of a college degree. Some of the successful people without college degrees are listed below:

The first name that comes to mind is Bill Gates, the founder of the IT giant Microsoft. While Gates did attend Harvard initially, he dropped out to follow his dream of setting up his company. The gamble paid off and today, practically all computers in the world use Microsoft's Windows operating system.

Ralph Lauren is another successful person from the fashion industry who does not have college degree to his name. He too joined college, but dropped out. Then he joined the US army and later worked as salesman. He then went on to set up his own store selling neckties in the year 1967.

Halle Berry, the Academy Award winner, who captured the hearts of people, has never attended college. However, she still managed to carve a niche for herself in Hollywood and is even a spokesperson for the cosmetic firm Revlon.

Michael Dell, the found of Dell computers, is another person who has not been to college. In fact, Dell stopped attending school when he was nineteen years old. For him it was worth it because his assets in the year 2009 were pegged at $12.3 billion.

Henry Ford, the person who brought automation to manufacturing and gave the world Ford cars, also never attended college. In fact, Ford has the dubious distinction of not completing even high school. But he still went on to establish a successful car manufacturing company that is churning out top quality cars even today.

It may sound strange but the sixth president of the US, Andrew Jackson, worked in several fields without the benefit of a college degree. Besides holding the all important post of the president, Jackson also was a military governor, an army commander and an attorney. All this without a college degree. Remarkable!
