The Mis Quince celebration is a very important event in the life of many young Hispanic women. It marks the fifteenth birthday of these women, much like the sweet sixteenth birthday is celebrated in many households as a large family and friends affair. The Mis Quince is celebrated widely in Hispanic countries such as Mexico and several South American countries. The name Mis Quince comes from the Spanish word, Quinceanera, which means fifteen. A fitting name for a celebration that takes place on the fifteenth birthday.

Mis Quince also contains many religious elements, similar in a way to the Bat Mitzvah or Bar Mitzvah party held for thirteen year olds in Judaism holds religious elements. It’s not out of the realm of the unbelievable for a Mis Quince celebration to have catered food, limousines, live bands, a dance hall, and photo sessions for the guests and even a beautiful white or lavender gown for the guest of honor. The young woman celebrating her birthday will often also have a bouquet of pretty flowers.
