I am required to visit Thailand a great deal in my business. I usually just went in and got a visa on the spot, for up to thirty days. However, recently I've started a new project there (I'm a consultant) and need to be "in country" for longer stretches than that. It used to be that you could take a short flight to Malaysia or other nearby country and than fly back in to get a new visa. Now, however, they are enforcing there immigration policies more attentively and to try to do that would definitely cause questions if not downright denial of entry. Would be curious to know from anyone with this experience. Incidentally, the nature of my project in Thailand is such that I already pay a witholding tax for earnings in Thailand. So tax avoidance is not an issue, as I willingly pay the tax already.In addition, the client is willing to sponsor the visa. I am more interested to know if the process is lengthy or difficult.
