ILISA, located in beautiful San Pedro, provides International TEFL Teacher Training Certification for those interested in professional development and teaching English to speakers of other languages all over the world. Our classes are given at our own state-of-the-art educational institutional located in a quiet suburb of San Pedro. Look out at the Mountains of Costa Rica as you learn and grow. Our institution is just that ours, we are not agents or subcontractors for others.

Our four-week TEFL course is designed to train and prepare candidates to become qualified, successful English teachers with confidence. In order to achieve this, we put great emphasis on the practical aspects of English teaching. For example, teaching English to real students of a foreign country who want to learn English will be part of the program and allows you to get acquainted with teaching and become more confident.

Each candidate starts teaching after week one and continues through week four. Candidates are given access to observe as many classes as they want at a sister ESL Language School. There are no papers due - it is real life experience for people who really want to learn how to teach English.

We believe that the best way for participants to learn is through practical experience and being trained, tutored, supervised and evaluated by current qualified English instructors. Our instructors hold a Bachelors degree and are internationally TEFL certified. They are current English teachers to speakers of another language with years of experience and a specific specialization of teaching English. This means that we have a very specialized team of instructors who know best how to train and teach the different aspects of teaching.

We assist our students through the entire process from application, the course, home stays or apartments and job placement.
