Volunteering Abroad
Would you like to use your English as a Second Language teaching skill to benefit a small community in south central Costa Rica?
Proyecto San Gerardo exists to enhance local skills and job opportunities by providing training such as learning English for those working in tourism. Every year thousands of hikers and climbers visit San Gerardo de Rivas to climb Mt ChirripĆ³ and explore this beautiful part of Costa Rica, providing opportunities for employment as guides, hoteliers, restaurateurs, etc to the local people.
You will provide free English classes to local adults and youth at beginner and intermediate levels, as well as a drop in conversation group.
The project is fully supported by the local Community Association and enjoys great popularity with this small village of 350 and its neighbors.
Homestay arranged and subsidized so you can improve your Spanish in this beautiful village next to Mt ChirripĆ³. Homestay includes all meals and laundry.
