About us:
MACAO is a non-profit and membership organization founded in October 2003 by Tanzanian and International volunteers from American and Macao is a non-profit organization reaching out to neglected Indigenous people in Ngorongoro District, Arusha Region of Northern Tanzania. Macao is a humanitarian organization that provides assistance to the Maasai community in Ngorongoro district. The founder members had a common desire to join forces and take steps to touch the souls of the needy, troubled and suffering people in community through humanitarian services. Initially, the members participated in some events which included visiting orphans homes to spend time with children who needed love, cleaning the polluted rivers and jointly organized a beauty show for slum poor girls’ education bursary in Tanzania.

LOCATION
Macao has volunteer placements in urban and rural Tanzanian communities and villages. This project is based in Arusha District and volunteers will need to fly into Kilimanjaro International Airport, if travelling to the program by air. As one of our younger placements, we are currently only placing volunteers in and around Arusha, however as this program develops we will expand into other cities and rural villages within Arusha Tanzania. While we would like an indication of your location preference, rural or urban Arusha, when applying, this can be finalized with our program partner on arrival in Tanzania.
