Volunteering Abroad
CofradÃa Bilingual School is a small school located in CofradÃa, Cortes, Honduras. We offer a high-quality bilingual education to over 300 students from kindergarten to grade 11. Our dedicated team of international volunteers work together with locally recruited Honduran teachers to provide students with a much-needed alternative to the public school system. Our students receive an immersion-based bilingual education from native and fluent English speakers from around the world. Graduating as English speakers provides our students with many more opportunities than they would otherwise have. Many of our students come from very low socioeconomic backgrounds and a bilingual education gives them the ability to end the cycle of poverty for their family. Our graduates are motivated, passionate people who are ready to build a brighter future for themselves, their community, and their country.
All volunteer-taught classes are conducted in English, so Spanish-language skills are not required. Similarly, prior teaching experience is not required to work at CBS. While experience in education is undoubtedly beneficial, we value more highly motivated, passionate, and hard-working people. We are currently recruiting English teachers for Kinder (ages 4-5) through 11th Grade (ages 16-17). The CBS school year goes from mid August 2017 to June 2018. English teachers may also teach Math (grade one only), Science, and Physical Education. Our teachers work Monday-Friday from 7:00am-2:10pm.
While teaching at our school is completely voluntary, accommodation and two meals a day during the week are provided.
