Profiled Agency -- Beijing, China: English Teacher with Strength
Inspired U Education aims to provide English as a second language services using arts programs infused with social, cultural, and academic English language. Our programs are designed to make English language learning engaging, creative, collaborative, and empowering. Art has a unique way of challenging the mind, opening it to different ways of thinking, and enhancing analytically abilities. Collaborating with peers through arts can also build confidence, define character, and increase leadership skills. Our long-term goals on building social, cultural, and academic English language abilities ensures students are more comfortable, confident, and prepared to tackle any test, class, job, or society which requires conversational and native-level English. Our community focus, progressive and engaging programs, and customized approach to child development fosters long term results. Role: We are looking for teachers with a strength in the arts. Inspired U teachers will teach our Arts to English (A2 E) program, and, therefore, must have a background or experience in the arts or related fields. A background in English with a focus on creative writing or literature will also be accepted. The current position is for part-time work for a month long program, from May 14th to June 12th. Classes will be in person, with a group of 10 students, Tuesdays and Thursdays 7 A's 9 PM, and Saturday and Sunday, 10 am A's 12 PM. The students will range from 8th to 10th grade. Teachers must also be present for final project presentation days and graduation. The successful candidate will be considered for future projects and full-time positions, and will receive a portfolio of their own work as part of professional development. Requirements: - Teaching certification strongly preferred - Must have experience in the arts or creative writing/literature; degree in arts or literature preferred - Must have experience in the arts; teaching experience preferred - Must be a creative and independent thinker, and teach using a Socratic approach - Must be collaborative, being able to work in teams, provide input for progress and improvement but take direction when necessary - Collaborative and creative in nature and personality - Willing to work as a team and contribute to team dynamics - Flexibility with teaching and using a discussion-based approach to stimulate critical thinking, creativity, and personal growth Our work culture is very collaborative and progressive. Teachers will also communicate with parents and are crucial in building the relationships needed to reach program goals. Interviews will be held the weeks of April 1st to April 11th. Only three candidates will be selected from the pool of qualified applicants.
