Using today’s exchange rate, starting salary is 11,000 RMB for a 28 working hours a week. You will be provided with a stipend to cover the cost of your meals and accommodation.

You are needed to work as an English language learning assistant. You will be required to help give lessons in a public primary (elementary) school or junior high school for up to a maximum of twenty hours per week. Eight hours are required for administrative work. Your job is to help Chinese learners speak English. You will be helping them practice and encouraging them to communicate in English.

Additional teaching hours, over and above the 28 hours in your contract can be had through the company for 100 RMB an hour Other opportunities for extra income can be arranged for you and there are as many hours available for you as you want to work.

No experience is required. You do not need a teaching certificate to gain employment but Bachelor’s Degree holders will find it easier to obtain their necessary working credentials in China. Also, in China, you must remain drug free at all times and a criminal background check is required. Those with a felony conviction will not qualify for a work permit.

Zhengzhou is a modest Chinese city of approximately 12 million people. A transportation hub, Zhengzhou is the capital of Henan Province. The world famous Original Shaolin Temple, the birthplace of Chinese martial arts, Zen Buddhism and traditional Chinese medicine is about an hour and a half from the center of Zhengzhou by car. Papa John’s, McDonald’s, Burger King, Subway, Dairy Queen, KFC, Pizza Hut and Starbucks have various locations throughout the city. Traffic tends to move slowly and pollution can be heavy, at times. People are generally curious about outsiders but most are indifferent. You can live comfortably on your stipend but should you so choose to spend some of your salary, you can live like royalty.
