Here's some basic info about the city of Yichang for your reference.

Yichang is the second city of China’s central Hubei province, around half the size of New York City and twice the size of Chicago. Both the Yangtze River and the Three Gorges Dam can be found in Yichang; the former is the longest river in Asia and third longest in the world, and the latter is the world’s largest power generator and a well-known symbol of the region.

With a bustling city center, Yichang’s urbanized core is composed of three districts and is home to just over 1.3 million people. Yichang has a milder climate than cities like Beijing and Shanghai, with summer temperatures peaking in the low 80s, and winter weather bottoming out in the mid-40s.

Yichang has a relatively lively nightlife, with a number of bars, theaters, and restaurants. For an easy long weekend on offer are cruise tours of the Yangtze, hiking opportunities on surrounding mountains, trip to China’s Zhangjiajie National Park, part of the “Wulingyuan Scenic Area,” a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Public transportation in Yichang consists of bus service, complemented by exceptionally inexpensive taxi fares. As an important economic and cultural hub with a rich history and numerous scenic, historical, and natural attractions, Yichang has much to offer foreign teachers in terms of leisure, entertainment and professional development.
