Academic Excellence
VCC has five Schools and two Centres, and offers over 100 programs, which vary in length. Our diverse international student population represents more than 60 countries and is made up of high school, college and university graduates and working professionals.

ESL Plus:
ESL Plus! is a new pathway at VCC for international students. It provides students with a combination of ESL and formal education in one package. ESL Plus! combines the required amount of ESL a student needs with acceptance to the program of their choice.

If you want to enter a VCC program such as Business, Hospitality, University Transfer, Music or Health Sciences, then VCC can help you make the transition to that program via ESL Plus!

Students are given a Personal Educational Plan (PEP) to help guide them to achieve their goals. Students enter the ESL portion of their training and progress to the formal program as soon as they are ready.

Intensive TEFL Certificate Program for International Students:
The Intensive TEFL Certificate Program for International Students is a one-month program specifically designed for international students. The program presents current English language teaching methodology focusing on strategies and techniques for teaching grammar, reading, writing, pronunciation, and oral communication. For admission, applicants are required to have a TOEFL score of 480 (written test) or 157/300 (computer test) or a TOEIC score of 750. Graduates are awarded the VCC TEFL Certificate for Teaching Young Learners.

International TESOL Diploma Program:
The International TESOL Diploma Program is an internationally recognized teacher training program for teaching English to speakers of other languages (TESOL). This comprehensive 10-month program prepares graduates to teach literacy to university level English language. For admission, applicants are required to have a university degree, a minimum TOEFL score of 570 (written test) or 230/300 (computer test) or a IELTS Band 6.5 and an interview. If the applicant is overseas, the interview will be done by phone. Graduates are awarded the VCC International TESOL Diploma and qualify for National Professional Certification from TESL Canada.

Intensive TEFL Certificate Program for Teaching Young Learners:
The Intensive TEFL Certificate Program for Teaching Young Learners is an outstanding teacher-training program. It is designed for international students who wish to teach English to young learners from ages 6 to 18 years. The program presents the theory and practice for teaching English to young learners with a wide range of instructional topics including teaching speaking, pronunciation, listening, reading, writing and grammar. An internationally recognized teacher trainer teaches the program. Applicants are required to have a minimum TOEFL score of 480 (written test) or 157/300 (computer test) or a TOEIC score of 650. Graduates are awarded the VCC TEFL Certificate for Teaching Young Learners.
