Academic Intensive English Program (IEP)Portland Community College offers academic intensive English courses on all of its campuses. The program consists of five sequential levels in reading, writing, speaking/pronunciation, and non-core curriculum courses such as grammar and U.S. culture. You can take other college-level courses while completing the higher levels of the English program. Each course is 11 weeks long during fall, winter, and spring terms and 8 weeks during summer term. You may enter a course at the beginning of any term.

The Intensive English program prepares students for university studies or for personal needs.

- 6 levels from beginning to upper advanced
- Required classes in reading, writing, speaking/listening
- Special classes at all levels e.g. U.S. culture, pronunciation, vocabulary, college preparation, service learning
- Computer labs equipped with internet and e-mail
- Tutoring centers

No TOEFL Score Required:
PCC does not require a TOEFL score or high school GPA minimum. Instead, you will take a placement test upon arrival and will then be placed in appropriate classes. You must be at least 16 years old to be admitted to PCC.
