English Language Program

The Intensive English Language Institute, a college based program, offers students the opportunity to attain English language fluency and U.S. cultural competencies to succeed in college or university studies, advance professionally, and reach personal goals.

Intensive Full Time English Classes:
The Intensive English Language Institute (IELI) full-time Program at Worcester State College offers Intermediate and Advanced English writing, reading, listening and speaking skills for students with a minimum of a high school diploma, and who wish to prepare themselves as applicants to College. The Intensive Program includes preparation for achieving college entrance scores on the iBT TOEFL exam with an integrated skills approach.

Fall and Spring semesters - 14 weeks
Two summer sessions - 5 weeks each
Classes meet 20 hours per week - fulfills the requirements for the F-1 student visa
Multiple Levels to accommodate student learning
All classes integrate skills but have a daily focus such as reading/writing or iBT TOEFL preparation
Free tutoring available

Community English Part Time Classes:
The part-time Community English Language Program at Worcester State College offers Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced English writing, reading, listening and speaking skills for students to gain proficiency and confidence in their community, academic and professional associations. Students with His high school diplomas are preferred.

Fall, spring, summer semesters - 12 weeks
Classes meet twice weekly (Monday and Wednesday or Tuesday and Thursday)
Multiple levels to accommodate student learning
Pre-and post testing for accurate placement and to measure gains
Classes include integrated skills classes, pronunciation, and iBT TOEFL preparation
