The path to becoming a fully qualified English professor can be a long, difficult one and takes passion and a dedication towards learning. Prospective English professors first need to achieve good grades at school level in English and gain access to a good college. A grade in English will be required.

Once entry to college is achieved you should be looking to major in undergraduate English Literature and English. A serious student will try to aim towards grades in these subjects to pursue their aim of becoming a professor.
