Teacher Appreciation Week Flyer Ideas
By:Erin Schreiner

While teachers perform an important function, they often do not receive thanks for their daily work. To ensure that educators don't feel completely unappreciated, many schools celebrate teacher appreciation week. Through the creation and dissemination of teacher appreciation-related flyers, schools can both spread the news about teacher appreciation week and reward teachers for their effort and dedication to the job.

Student Quotes Flyer
When given the opportunity, students often have many kind words to say about their dedicated teachers. These words are often touching to educators, who dedicate themselves daily to their students. Gather quotes from students regarding their favorite teachers by distributing a survey and asking for student responses. Compile the quotes, selecting the best ones and placing them on a flyer. Distribute the flyers to teachers by placing them in their mailboxes. As teachers arrive at school, this pleasant surprise will be a great start to their day.

Coupon Flyer
Give teachers a prize in the form of a coupon during teacher appreciation week. Create a flyer thanking teachers for their dedication to the field and telling them what a wonderful job they do daily. At the bottom of the flyer, place a coupon for the teachers to use at their leisure. Make the coupon for a nontangible thing that would appeal to teachers, such as a "jeans day" or a pass to leave school one hour early. By providing the teachers with a coupon, you allow them to save their treat for a convenient time and to take the reward when they wish. Before offering a gift of any type to teachers, check your district and state rules regarding gift-giving to avoid giving educators gifts that may be restricted or entirely prohibited.

Class Photo Flyer
For many teachers, the best reward is seeing the smiling faces of the students they have helped mold. Create a flyer filled with the faces of the students to thank your educators. In the days leading up to teacher appreciation week, take candid shots of the students. Make a collage of the collected images to use as a flyer background. In the center of the flyer, add a quote about the importance of teaching to remind your educators why their profession is such a worthwhile one.

After-School Surprise Flyer
End teacher appreciation week with a "sweet" surprise. Prepare an after-school ice cream social or other sweet-treat event for your staff. Prepare a flyer that advertises the event. Depending on your school's policy, distribute the flyers to teachers at the end of the school day on the date of the event as a surprise. Or distribute the flyers the day before so teachers can make plans to attend. This unexpected treat will likely make a lovely conclusion to their week.
