Are you satisfied with your teacher salary? I guess we can't complain too much when you look around at everyone who is suffering from the recession. I can only imagine what it is like to be in the automotive industry at the moment. All other professions aside, many teachers, especially newer teachers are not satisfied with their teacher salary, as it only provides slightly more money than we need to cover our cost of living.

If you are happy living an extremely modest life, a teacher salary is good; however, many teachers are working extra hours on different projects. From waitressing on evenings and weekends, to working over the March break and summer holidays. Our vacations are not what they once were. Many teachers need to increase their teacher salary by working another job so they can support themselves and their families.

It is the type of work that we seek out in addition to our teacher salary that will determine whether we just get by or whether we can live in luxury. You must ask yourself if working extra hours without having your own business is worth it, given the high taxes that get deducted from our teacher salary.

Unless you are working in a business that allow you to write down your taxable income from your teacher salary, you will be working many hours and only able to keep a small portion of the money that you earn. Once you have your own business, you will be able to write off items like car payments, gas, entertainment, rent, supplies and travel. If this appeals to you, it is extremely important to look into working for yourself part-time on the side of your teacher salary.

It is important that you find something that is in demand, that you can be passionate about, and that you can offer a lot of value to others by doing. The internet is a great place to look for new business ideas, and to get a good idea about what others are doing. Once you find a good business venture outside of your teacher salary, do your research, and then step it up with action. You'll soon understand that with a good business idea and plan that you'll want to put in some hours of work on your time off because it will pay you ten times over.
