Gone are the days of barriotic thinking, Jurassic way of doing teaching reading to our learners, etc. With the floodgates of information have been opened since the advent of technology, the internet and the like have become the sole reason of making the world flat. Yes, the world is flat-- according to one well-known writer-- because of technology.

What with the avalanche of information coming from the internet doing research is just a piece of cake. More options are there to find and its up to you to consider them according to your needs, etc. Gone were the days of going to the dusty libraries and grabbed for limited number of books, etc.

As global teachers, we need to really scaffold the learning strategies or techniques our learners need. For one, we need to introduce them to the world of information, so complex and mind-boggling, but with our guidance and encouragement, they could enjoy doing their researches, etc.

And once they have mastered the quest for information for various purposes, they are now on the smooth sailing on the vast ocean of information. Of course, after they have mastered the right ways of using internet, they are on for a fun, fun way of learning.

On the other hand, internet is also maligned as nothing but trash-- so-called sex sites, etc.-- but enlightened, educated learners see the positive side of the internet. In fact they know no reason why they should not take advantage of the internet in their studies; instead, set aside the negative and proceed with their desire to use the net for their own advantage.

Yes, never before could one get handful information in just a flick of fingers, er, push of a button. Today's youth has all the advantages of learning in a more, more fun, and meaningful ways.

As global teachers, let us be models of resourcefulness, creativity and the like for them to emulate-- their journey to learning becomes positive experiences to cherish for the rest of their lives.
