Admitting That Teachers Are Not Perfect - Learners Tend to Learn More
By:Larry Icabandi Nabiong

The more the teacher pretends that he is good, the worse the result of his teaching is. More so, if he is not that good in acting out, the so-called-- expert.

What now is the best way of handling the situation? Is telling them that their teacher is no good, or just faking it out, or what... a saner thing to do? How about the teacher's credibility?

Well, being authentic and honest enough to face the truth is great. Today's learners are really good. You cannot hide your pretension and all. Say, learners are exposed to information technology such as internet and the like, where they could get information in a jiffy. What if, such information is more valid than yours? Are you still going the length of defending your old knowledge, instead of admitting that they were right--and not you? What a shame.

Traditional concepts are still pervading in the psyche of those who have not yet been enlightened about learning. No learning is static. Learning is dynamic. Knowledge evolves. The world is flat... you know.

Continuous discoveries, inventions and the like create changes in knowledge. And, teachers must accept the trends, development, etc. in various fields of learning. Teacher, in fact, has no other choice but to go with the flow and let the tide of information pass by without being left out, ignorant. In fact, he should be the one guiding students to love learning new knowledge and adopting to new ideas in order to stay afloat in the vast ocean of information. In doing so, would encourage them to seek more, share findings to others; even to their teacher who is so busy doing other things but researching.

Let me then, reiterate this: Nobody has monopolized knowledge; it is impossible. Students might have more enthusiasm than their teachers in embracing new knowledge, thus making them more updated, well-informed and, much more appearing, in the know.

No need faking them out that you know everything. Give them a chance to believe that you know-- just a little of-- everything.

He has joined writing contest in the past, but until now, he is dreaming of bagging an award! This is why, he is now trying his luck in this endeavor--blogging-- to find his niche and somewhere, somehow find a way of publishing a book.
